COOPERATION AND PARTICIPATORY STRUCTURING OF LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR ARTISANAL FISH PRODUCTION IN TRADITIONAL COMMUNITIES
The Cooperation and Participatory Structuring of Local Arrangements for the Production of Artisanal Fish in Traditional Communities aims to promote the sustainable productive development of traditional fishing communities through the establishment of institutional and community partnerships. This approach involves the creation of cooperation networks that include government agencies, non-governmental organizations, research institutions and the fishing communities themselves. The objective is to strengthen the productive and organizational capacity of these communities, ensuring the environmental, economic and social sustainability of artisanal fishing activities.

PROBLEM SOLVED
Artisanal fishing plays a crucial role in the national fishing scenario, accounting for 53% of marine and estuarine production and involving a large contingent of fishermen. Despite the relevance of this activity and the significant involvement of caiçara fishermen and fisherwomen, traditional communities face considerable challenges in inserting their products into the regional market and benefiting from national purchasing policies.

SOLUTION ADOPTED
Through technical visits, sharing, exchanges and specialized advice on business management and development of traditional products, the aim is to enhance the artisanal fishing chain in traditional Caiçara communities, promoting two pilot projects in Almada and Trindade that can inspire other initiatives in the region.

RESULT ACHIEVED
The coordination of institutions involved in the promotion of artisanal fishing, especially within public bodies, has been essential to support the development of public policies that guarantee support for community initiatives related to artisanal fishing products. Through integrated and coordinated actions aimed at strengthening autonomy in the artisanal fish production chain, the initiative has contributed significantly to the permanence of fishermen and women in their territories of origin and the continuity of the practice of artisanal fishing.
