WHAT WE WANT

SUSTAINABLE AND HEALTHY TERRITORIES
We recognize a deep connection between territory and health. This relationship is based on the understanding that health is not limited to access to health services, but is also deeply determined by a broad spectrum of social, economic and environmental factors.

STRONG COMMUNITIES
We are committed to strengthening community associations and social movements representing traditional peoples and communities ,
recognizing them as essential pillars for sustainable development and participatory democracy.

TERRITORIALIZATION OF THE 2030 AGENDA
We work with communities, governments and organizations to adapt the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at a global level to the local realities of traditional territories. Our goal is to create bridges that ensure resilient and thriving ecosystems that reflect the needs and aspirations of each territory.

PUBLIC POLICY PROTOTYPING
We know that our actions are insufficient to transform the territory in the full sense of Good Living. Therefore, we rely on a large solidarity network capable of expanding the reach of our practices through the exchange of experiences between territories and their incorporation into public policies.

“
Vagner Nascimento
General Coordinator of OTSS and Coordinator of the Traditional Communities Forum

“
Mario Moreira
President of Fiocruz
Fiocruz believes that the construction of good public policies involves interaction and active listening to local communities and territories. And the OTSS is an example of how dialogue between different forms of knowledge can generate sustainable solutions for the local and global challenges we face today, especially climate change, which has a greater impact on the most vulnerable populations. Through the exchange of knowledge, we hope to contribute to the promotion of health and sustainable development of these populations.”

WHAT WE DO
Our approach recognizes that health goes far beyond the absence of disease, and is profoundly influenced by the context in which people live, work and interact. Therefore, we organize our actions based on four thematic axes that, together, contribute to promoting Sustainable and Healthy Territories and the Good Life of traditional communities in their territories.
