BASIC TRAINING PROCESS METHODOLOGY FOR DEFENSE OF TRADITIONAL TERRITORIES (BASIC COURSE MARÉ DE SABERES)
The Basic Training Course for Community Leaders is an initiative aimed at training leaders of traditional communities that face significant impacts due to oil exploration, real estate speculation and the expansion of large-scale projects in their territories of origin. The course's main objective is to strengthen the skills and knowledge of these leaders, enabling them to act more effectively in the defense of their rights and in the sustainable management of their territories. Through theoretical and practical modules, participants are prepared to face socio-environmental challenges and promote social justice in their communities.

PROBLEM SOLVED
With the aim of strengthening fishing communities and promoting their involvement in environmental management of their territories, the Redes Project foresees the construction of a Socio-Environmental Training Network (RFS). Within this network, a basic course was planned to prepare community leaders to work in the socio-environmental management of their territories, with a special focus on the impacts resulting from the exploration of the Pre-Salt. Currently, knowledge on these topics is fragmented, which hinders the active participation of affected communities in environmental licensing processes and jeopardizes the permanence of these communities in their territories of origin.

SOLUTION ADOPTED
The Maré de Saberes Course is structured in four modules distributed over 12 months and uses the Pedagogy of Alternation as a teaching methodology. The Pedagogy of Alternation is an educational approach that alternates periods of theoretical learning at school (School Time) with periods of practical application in the community (Community Time). This methodology aims to integrate academic knowledge with the reality experienced by students, promoting a contextualized and relevant education. Each module of the course has a total workload of 110 hours, of which 30 hours are dedicated to activities and workshops held during School Time. These activities include theoretical classes, group discussions and practical workshops that provide the theoretical basis necessary for understanding the topics covered. The remaining 80 hours are distributed throughout Community Time, where participants apply the knowledge acquired in their own communities, developing projects and activities that respond to local needs and promote socio-environmental development.

RESULT ACHIEVED
The Maré de Saberes Course is currently in operation and has already reached its third module. To date, it has had the regular participation of 80 students. These students have demonstrated a strong commitment to the course, actively participating in both theoretical activities during School Time and practical activities during Community Time.
During Community Time, students have been carrying out integrated projects that apply the knowledge acquired during theoretical classes. These projects not only reinforce learning, but also promote socio-environmental development in the communities where students live and work. The integration between theory and practice has proven effective, resulting in a positive impact on both the students' education and the communities benefiting from it.
